Recruitment Process


Recruitment timetable

Hugh James recruits two years in advance.  The next recruitment process will be for 2013.

 

1.       Summer placement scheme

 

  • Apply online by 31st March
  • Interviews  - late April/mid May
  • Maximum 24 candidates selected
  • Runs June to August each year
  • Integral part of recruitment process

 

2.       Training contract

 

  • Apply online by 31st July
  • Invitation to interview by letter – early August
  • Interviews mid to late August
  • All candidates (successful or not) are notified within four weeks

 


Training contract selection

 

  • Between 7 to 10 trainees selected each year
  • Applications accepted from individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
  • 2:1 degree as minimum (unless there is good reason for a 2:2 degree being awarded)
  • Non law graduates welcomed
  • Interview including a 10 minute presentation – the topic being provided in the invitation to interview letter  
  • Interview panel comprises the Training Principal, HR Director and a senior partner.
  • All candidates (successful or not) will be contacted no later than 4 weeks from the end of the process
