point succinctly. This training scheme does exactly what it
promises - it gets people ready for life after qualification,
whatever that might entail. In 2007, seven of the ten qualifiers
stayed with the firm.’

Training
In addition to the Professional Skills Course
(PSC), Hugh James trainees are enrolled on the Hugh James Academy
programme of training.
The courses, and the course materials which
underpin them, are specifically tailored to meet the ever changing
needs of the business and staff.
Each individual can access their training
account from their computer desktop via the Firm’s intranet. This
means that it is easy to keep track of the courses that have been
attended and to see what courses are being held. Bookings can
be made them from each computer.
The programme offers courses covering
traditional legal subjects as well as self development and business
development training.
Training is provided in many ways for
example:
- In-house,
- externally and
- online
The in-house Academy programme fully supports
development needs from entry into the Firm as a trainee, right
through to the most senior positions.
