Seat Rotation
Elin Davies, Solicitor
I was asked at every appraisal
what area I would like to go into. There was a focus on the
subjects that interest me and, more particularly, on the skills
that I hadn’t yet had the opportunity to develop and
these were always addressed in the next seat
rotation. You do need to go in with an open mind as the
selection of seats in each rotation is obviously dependent on the
business needs as well as your personal preferences. I also
think that your ability to fit into a particular department is
taken into account. I’ve always been happy with the seats that
I was allocated. It was actually the ones that I didn’t
particularly indicate a preference for that I enjoyed the most.
Lousha Bryl, Solicitor
Your first seat is allocated to you
prior to your arrival. HR will inform you of the department that
you have been assigned to about two weeks before your training
contract is due to start. This gives you plenty of time to
sort out your travel arrangements depending on which office you are
going to be based in and to refresh yourself on the area of law
that you will be dealing with.
