Previous fundraising

Each year Hugh James alternates their chosen charities to support. This ensures we continuously raise money for a range of different charities and issues.

  • To raise money for Latch, the children and young people at the Children's Hospital for Wales paint pictures whilst they are getting treatment for cancer and leukaemia. These are then bought by organisations for a donation. Hugh James bought three artworks and donated £500. These are now proudly displayed in our busy Cyber cafe for all staff to view.

  • On Saturday 28 May 2011 five members of the Hugh James nursing care department set out to complete the UK three peaks challenge to raise funds for charity Age Cymru. The team raised a total of £2095.02 for Age Cymru. Read full story.

  • Last year for Comic Relief and Children In Need we had a dress down day where staff donated money. We are pleased to confirm that we rose a considerable amount for Comic Relief and £443.43 for Children in Need.

  • Hugh James raised money for older people’s charity Age Cymru with a sponsored walk with a difference around Penarth Marina. Staff from Hugh James, took part in a Nordic walking fundraiser along the Cardiff Bay Barrage on 10 June 2010 to raise money for Age Cymru. Age Cymru was one of our chosen charities in 2010. Hugh James staff collected hundreds of pounds for the charity with events such as quizzes, dress-down days and the Nordic walk.

  • Hugh James had their own football debut on the 7th June 2010 at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff. Resurrecting rivalries between staff from Hugh James' old Merthyr office and their Cardiff office, the teams battled it out in a football match arranged in aid of one of the firm’s chosen charity Headway. The evening raised a fantastic £1063.60.

  • We have also raised money for Marie Curie Cancer Care and for Air Ambulance Wales. We had a dress down day for Marie Curie Cancer Care and sold daffodils to raise a considerable amount. In aid of Air Ambulance we held a dress down day and raised £349.00.

  • Christmas 2010 we sent around Christmas wishes in support of Headway Charity. Staff gave a donation to Headway for their Christmas wishes to be e-mailed around the firm. We raised £401.50 on behalf of Headway. In 2009 two of our partners undertook a sponsored bike ride to raise money for Headway. Their success in raising money for this charity can be read in HJ Lawyers charity bike ride.
