Back to Tax assault on self employed construction workers

Comment

Although the Government says it is mindful of the current economic difficulties, the SME construction market is likely to be adversely affected by any measures brought in to tackle false self-employment.

There is clearly a case for dealing with the issue of false self-employment, but the question is whether now is the right time.

The nature of the sector is such that flexibility, however it may be achieved, is a significant characteristic of the construction labour market.  Wide spread curtailment of current arrangements will in the short term have a significant impact on businesses and workers, who are already struggling to cope.
