Hugh James walks for justice

For the second year running, Hugh
James is proud to support The Three Courts Walk, the annual
sponsored walk around Cardiff city centre by Reaching Justice Wales
to raise money for the legal voluntary sector in Wales.
The inaugural fundraising event
last year was a great success, with about 190 walkers taking to the
streets in support of the new charity, raising £10,000 from the
night. Hugh James supported the charity again this year by entering
a team of over twenty employees who walked between each of the
three courts in the city on 24th September to raise
funds.
Reaching Justice Wales
aims to contribute to the availability of legal advice across
Wales. The charity raises funds to support voluntary sector
agencies which provide free legal advice where there is need,
supplementing but not replacing legal aid. It recently made its
first grant to a charity which provides legal support where no
legal aid is available and solicitors cannot assist.
Integral to the success
of this organisation is that it draws together all of the various
strands of the legal profession in Wales - from barristers,
solicitors, and judiciary to academics, employed lawyers, legal
executives and law students. The charity’s founding Chairman is His
Honour Graham Jones with Lord Justice Malcolm Pill as its
President.
Leading the walk for Hugh
James was Mark Harvey, a partner at the firm and Treasurer of
Reaching Justice Wales. He said: “Not only is the event a chance to
raise funds for advice services in Wales, it is a great opportunity
for the profession to come together and demonstrate its continuing
commitment to access to justice for all.”
