Thousands of people across Wales have to pay
for care and many of them are forced to sell their homes. The rules
are often complicated and families often lack a source of simple
information at a difficult time. Age Cymru and Hugh James has
launched a “Brief guide to paying for care” to highlight the main
steps you will need to take when a loved one has to enter a care
home. The guide was drafted by Lisa Morgan, Senior
Associate of our Nursing Care Team and Katie-Anne
Edwards from our Asset Management department.
Meryl Randell-Jones, Head of Communications
and Marketing at Age Cymru says:
“Age Cymru and Hugh James have worked
closely this year to identify the issues that really matter to
older people in Wales. It is almost certain that we or someone we
love or care for will need some kind of care during their lives, so
we decided to produce this useful step-by-step guide. Choosing a
care home – either for yourself or a loved one, is one of the most
important decisions we may have to make during our lifetimes. We
hope that ‘Brief guide to paying for care’ will provide many of the
answers to difficult questions that people are asking throughout
Wales today."
Lisa Morgan,
Senior Associate Solicitor with Specialist Nursing Care Team at
leading law firm Hugh James states
“Age Cymru and Hugh James are dedicated to
providing advice and guidance to older people, their families and
carers in our communities. The current rules on paying for care are
complex. Everyone should be entitled to access to information they
understand, information in a timely manner and to know what options
are available. We hope this brief guide will meet this
need”.
