Forget the FIFA World
Cup; Hugh James had their own football debut on the 7th June at the
Millennium Stadium, Cardiff. Resurrecting rivalries
between staff from Hugh James' old Merthyr office
and their Cardiff office, the teams battled it
out in a football match arranged in aid of the Firm’s
chosen charity Headway.
Hugh James decided
to dedicate this historic occasion to the memory of Russel
Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins had been a longstanding partner of the
firm who sadly passed away shortly after retiring late last year.
Due to the success of the event the Russel Cup is likely
to become a yearly event in the Hugh James calendar.
It was a great evening which gave
staff from Hugh James the honour of playing on the turf of the
Millennium stadium. To keep in the spirit of things a penalty
shootout competition took place during half time. With
the European, British and Commonwealth light
heavyweight professional boxer Nathan Cleverly
in goals, 10 lucky ticket holders were invited to take a
penalty on the hallowed turf of the Millennium Stadium.
The final result of the game was
7-3 to the Cardiff office. All the money raised from the event has
now been added up and we are pleased to say the evening raised a
fantastic £1063.60, all of which will be donated to Hugh James'
chosen Charity for the quarter Headway.
