Implications for Social Housing
in Wales

The draft budget was published on
17th November under the laudable by-line ‘Resolved,
Resilient and Responsible’. It details how the Welsh Assembly
Government is to be funded and how different departments are to
share the currently diminished available funds.
This is undoubtedly the most
critical budget of the Welsh Assembly Government’s history and
arrives on the back of the UK Spending Review, announced by the
Coalition Government back on 20th October.
The draft budget proposes making
available around £403 million for Housing, but, whilst it
claims that support for housing services for vulnerable groups was
specifically targeted for protection, the Social Housing Grant has
still been delivered a serious blow.
