Renowned campaigning lawyer
Mark Harvey, Partner
and head of the top ranked Personal Injury Team at Hugh James
solicitors, is acting for over 250 women with PIP implants.
As the leading solicitor
representing women in the UK affected by the PIP breast implant
recall, Mark Harvey
was called to provide his reaction following the recent reports
that the French medical authorities will ask all women in France
who received breast implants supplied by the Poly Implant Prothese
(PIP) company to have them removed.
During live interviews with BBC
News, France24, Radio 5 Live and Sky News Mark Harvey urged the Medicines and
Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (the MHRA) to provide an
adequate response to the developments in France and, similarly to
France, to set up a suitable protocol for women affected in this
country. Mr Harvey has been very critical of their role throughout
the history of this product. This stems from allowing this company
to sell the implants in the UK in the first place; their refusal to
respond when Mr Harvey alerted them to the problems; their refusal
to meet with any of his clients or to discuss their concerns and to
release details of the testing they have undertaken on these
products. As a result of course the latest press reports about
the PIP breast implants have caused an enormous amount of
stress and concern to Mr Harvey’s clients.
