Hugh James advises Boomerang on the acquisition of Oxford Scientific Films

Leading law firm Hugh James has
advised longstanding client Boomerang Plus plc on its latest
acquisition, of award-winning TV producer Oxford Scientific Films
Limited.
Boomerang Plus plc, a profitable
media group, announced today (9 June 2011) that it has acquired the
trade and certain assets and liabilities of Oxford Scientific Films
Limited, a London-based, award-winning producer of high-end factual
programming, for a cash consideration of £516,250.
The acquisition continues
Boomerang’s diversification strategy in terms of both the Company’s
geographic presence in the UK and also in terms of its customer
base, particularly allowing access to Oxford Scientific Films’
strong links with TV networks in North America.
Oxford Scientific Films is a BAFTA
and Emmy-award-winning producer of contemporary factual, natural
history, science and history programmes for broadcasters in the UK,
Australia and North America. It was one of the first independent
production companies in the UK and was founded in 1968 by a group
of Oxford scientists with a shared passion for technical innovation
and natural history.
OSF producers have been responsible
for a wide range of quality programming including the global hit
series Meerkat Manor (Animal Planet), Fatal Attractions (Animal
Planet), Atom (BBC), Richard E Grant’s History of the Safari (BBC),
Impaled! (Discovery Channel US and Five), Lockdown Oz Maximum
Security (National Geographic) and Saving Africa’s Witch Children
(Channel 4).
