Week in Week Out follows families
forced to pay care home fees for elderly relatives who are assessed
as not qualifying for NHS funding. In many cases homes have to be
sold and families struggle to meet the high cost of care.
As an expert in reclaiming wrongly
paid nursing care fees, Hugh James’ Lisa Morgan was interviewed for
the programme on the process of reclaiming these fees and how
difficult it can be for some families.
One of the cases featured is that
of Mr
Harry Denham, who was admitted to a care home in July 2002
suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. As a result of his illness he
became totally reliant on nursing home staff for all his daily
living activities and sadly Mr Denham passed away in February 2007.
Hugh James successfully challenged the Local Health Board’s
decision to refused Continuing Health Care Funding and Mr Denham’s
estate was awarded retrospective continuing health care and
reimbursed over £100,000 in nursing home fees.
The Hugh James Nursing Care team
are the leading national experts in the recovery of wrongly paid
care home fees, recovering over £20 million to date. They have

this field. Hugh James have had broadcast interviews for BBC

The Week In Week Out programme is
due to be aired on Tuesday 25th October at 10.35pm on BBC 1
Wales.
