Profile
Andrew Davies is a Partner in the Hugh James
Clinical Negligence Team. He has specialised in clinical
negligence claims since 1988. He has been a member of the Law
Society’s Clinical Negligence Panel since 1996 and a member of the
Action against Medical Accidents Panel (AvMA) since
1998.
Andrew has handled cases in all areas of
clinical negligence during his career. The majority of
his time is spent on cases for both children and adults who have
suffered brain injury or paralysis as well as cases involving
psychiatric injury. He has expertise in pursuing claims
arising from negligent gall bladder surgery as well as severe
injury cases caused by Compartment Syndrome. His reputation
for handling cases sensitively means that he is regularly
instructed by families who have suffered fatalities through
clinical negligence.
Whilst the majority of his case load involves
strongly contested multi million pound claims his focus is upon
achieving the right result for his client in the quickest time
possible.

child in a case where the Midwife had falsified medical
records.
- Leg amputation of a lorry driver through
orthopaedic mis management and surgery.
- Cervical cancer through negligent reporting of
cervical smear
- Negligent monitoring of a course of steroids by
a GP resulting in a movement disorder and psychiatric
injury
- Nasty scarring to a young girl caused by a
failure to monitor drug infusion through a Venflon

- Heart and kidney damage of a young man caused by
a failure to monitor renal function
- Negligent knee repair surgery causing a young
mother’s leg to be left permanently stiff and painful
- Permanent blindness of a school boy through
negligent neurosurgery
- Failure to diagnose and treat Compartment
Syndrome which ended the sporting career of a promising rugby
player

suffered by a young teacher
