Profile
Gerallt Jones is a Partner
and Head of the Corporate and Banking Division at
Hugh James. Since joining Hugh James in 2005, Gerallt has led the
transformation of the corporate department into a leading market
player, advising clients including the Welsh Assembly
Government/Finance Wales, RBS and the Welsh Rugby Union. He
now leads a thriving practice that has attracted high calibre
local, national and international clients and has recruited quality
lawyers from the City and rival local firms. Gerallt is
a native Welsh speaker and is admitted as a solicitor in Hong
Kong as well as England and Wales.
Gerallt has advised:
- AIM listed independent television production group
Boomerang Plus plc on a range of projects
including:
- the acquisition of Indus Films, producers of shows such as
Amazon with Bruce Parry and Coal House
- a joint venture with Channel 4 to host The Big Freeze, an
annual snowboarding and music festival held at Battersea Power
Station
- the acquisition of extreme sports magazine Method
- The Welsh Rugby Union on its groundbreaking
£30 million agreement relating to the funding and operation of its
four rugby regions: the Cardiff Blues, the Llanelli Scarlets, the
Newport-Gwent Dragons and the Ospreys
- On the acquisition of the Dore Programme, a
leading alternative therapy for dyslexia and other learning
difficulties, by a consortium of investors assembled
by former Wales rugby international Scott Quinnell
- Pelican Products, Inc.
(California based global leader in advanced lighting systems and
protective cases) on its first UK transaction, the acquisition of
Blue i UK Limited
- Finance Wales on numerous transactions
following Hugh James’s appointment to the Welsh Assembly Government

- On the sale of Maxibrite, the UK’s leading
independent solid fuel manufacturer, to Coal4Energy, a joint
venture between UK Coal and Hargreaves Services plc
