Profile

Huw Roberts is a senior associate in the Regulatory and Defence Services Team. He has seven years advocacy experience covering a wide range of areas including licensing, regulatory work and transport.

He has a particular expertise in the nature and extent of the powers of the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency having prosecuted for them for seven years and appeared at several public inquiries. Huw also undertakes the legal training for all new Traffic and Vehicle Examiners on behalf of the Agency.

He is also part of the Health and Safety Executive and Security Industry Authority prosecution teams.

In addition to his prosecution work Huw also has experience of defending road traffic prosecutions including death by dangerous/careless driving cases.

He also represents both individuals and companies in formal investigations and prosecutions involving age restricted sales, food hygiene, environmental issues and fraud and money laundering allegations.

Huw is a Presenting Officer for the General Teaching Council for Wales and has been involved in several cases that have attracted media attention. He also acts on behalf of individuals and insurers at Inquests.

Huw regularly lectures at Connect2Law Seminars and for clients. He has recently given several presentations on the Bribery Act.

Huw is also capable of conducting business in both Welsh and English.

Notable cases that Huw has been involved with in the recent past include:

R v F – Death by careless driving allegation where F was acquitted following trial in the Crown Court.
advising and representing engineering and waste management companies in relation to potential prosecutions by the Environment Agency
