Profile

Ioan Prydderch is a partner and head of the Construction, Energy and Projects Team. He is also head of our Public Sector Team. He has extensive experience of advising clients in the construction and engineering sector on both projects and the disputes that can arise. The team acts for a range of clients ranging from government and public authorities to banks, developers, contractors and subcontractors.

The team advises clients involved in construction, engineering and energy projects. The team includes specialists in procurement, project documentation and dispute resolution.

Ioan’s areas of expertise are:

• Procurement and project documentation including construction contracts, appointments, collateral warrantees, framework/partnering agreements and bonds.
• Standard forms of contract: JCT, NEC, ICE, FIDIC, GCWorks, PPC2000, RIBA, BPF, ACE, CIC
• Energy (includes renewable energy)
• Alternative dispute resolution including negotiation, mediation and expert determination
• Litigation, arbitration and adjudication
• Professional negligence involving construction professionals

Ioan has more than 10 years experience advising the public and private sectors on issues relating to construction law and is recognised as an expert in his field. Ioan is recommended for construction dispute work in Legal 500.  Ioan is described as “proactive, accessible, and always very good at assessing the situation” - Chambers

Ioan qualified in 1999 at Hugh James.  He then joined Laytons in Bristol in 2001 specialising in construction law and moved with the Laytons' construction team to Clarke Willmott in 2005. Ioan returned to Hugh James in 2006 as a Partner in the Construction and Projects Team, becoming head of the team in 2009.
