Testimonials

The construction team at Hugh James acts on both the contractor and developer side for major clients such as the Welsh Assembly Government, Cowlin Construction and RBS. Recently the firm has seen an increased demand for its contentious expertise, although it remains much sought after for its contractual knowledge. The group recently advised Cardiff Bus on contracts relating to the refurbishment of its bus depot.

Practice head Ioan Prydderch covers both contentious and non-contentious instructions and is praised by sources for his pragmatic approach.

Chambers 2012

Hugh James have been ranked in the top tier of the Legal 500 2011 report.

‘Very proactive and realistic in its approach’, Hugh James advises private, public and third sector clients; it has particular strength in solar energy projects,
and also advises housing associations on multimillion-pound developments. It advised Dudley & Sons on constructing a retail superstore over a collapsed tunnel site, and a Welsh eco-centre on a contractor dispute relating to the Wales Institute for Sustainable Education. Ioan Prydderch leads the team, while Shaun Jamieson, who joined from M & A Solicitors LLP, provides PFI/PPP expertise.
