Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 (RIDDOR) change in effect on 6th April 2012

Many employers will be familiar with their obligation under RIDDOR to make a report when an accident at work causes an employee to be absent or unable to work for more than three days.

From 6 April 2012, the requirement changes to an obligation to report after seven days absence or inability to work. Where a report is necessary, it must be made within 15 days of the accident.

The requirement to keep a record of all injuries giving rise to three day's off work remains but an accident book record will be sufficient to meet that obligation.
