Runway Development and Expansion Claims

Part 1 of the Land Compensation Act 1973 provides that compensation can be claimed by residents who own and also occupy property, near an airport, that has been reduced in value by physical factors such as noise, vibration, smell, fumes, smoke and artificial lighting caused by runway development and expansions.

Runway development and expansion land compensation claims

Part 1 land compensation act claims in relation to runway developments and expansions are usually against the airport, known as the ‘Compensating Authority’.

Hugh James environmental law solicitors have represented thousands of residents in the UK whose property values have been reduced because of airport and runway developments and expansions. Our environmental lawyers handle a variety of land compensation claims from modest terrace houses to large family estates.

Typical reasons for claiming under Land Compensation Act

Our airport development and expansion land compensation clients usually experience increased noise because the runway developments, on some occasions, can see aeroplanes being diverted closer to properties because of new flight paths. Occasionally residents also complain of the dust and fumes if they live close to the runway. These are the physical factors which reduce the value of the property.
