NHS Funded Nursing Care
If you are not eligible for NHS
continuing healthcare and you are receiving care in a care home
that provides nursing care, you should receive NHS funded nursing
care.
NHS funded nursing care is a
contribution towards the payment of nursing home fees. This payment
is paid directly to the nursing home for the care which is provided
by a registered nurse employed by that home.
Eligibility for NHS funded nursing
care in a nursing home should not be considered until it has been
agreed you are not eligible for NHS continuing healthcare.
From 1st April 2010, the rate in
Wales is £120.55 per week and in England the standard rate is
£108.70 with the upper band set at £149.60 per week.
The nursing home or social services
involved will normally apply for such a payment. If this does not
happen then the Local Health Board (in Wales) or the Primary Care
Trust (in England) should be contacted.
