for a client from Rhondda Cynon Taff
who had contracted MRSA following spinal surgery. The compensation

who had contracted MRSA and as a result had been left virtually
wheelchair bound. The compensation enabled the client to purchase

from Gwent who had developed pressure sores as a result of
negligent treatment whilst he was in hospital recovering from a

elderly relative fell at hospital. She was left unaided
and as a result sustained injuries which caused a deterioration in
her condition. She sadly passed away shortly after the fall.

Case summary 6:
Specialist medical negligence solicitor Sarah
Davies has recovered £150,000 for a Devon based client who suffered
a dural tear after a spinal operation in 2007. The dural tear
caused cerebro-spinal fluid to leak, which in itself is a
recognised complication however in this case a delay in diagnosis

Missed fractures negligence

negligence department, recovered £3,500.00 in respect of a
missed fracture of our client’s foot. Our client, who is from
Cambridge, attended the hospital with a painful foot, yet there was
a failure to correctly diagnose the injury and to adequately review
x-rays. The missed fracture resulted in a delay in treatment and a
prolonged recovery period.

Webber, recovered £4m on behalf of our Newport based client who
suffered from cerebral palsy as there was a negligent delay in
delivering our client which resulted in oxygen starvation and
severe brain injuries .The compensation allowed
for our client's family to purchase her a property as well as all
of the equipment she required for her future. It also allowed
her to have a team of carers to look after her for the rest of her
life.

£60,000 for Cardiff parents who lost their child shortly after it
was born. There
was a negligent delay in delivering the baby which,if avoided, would have resulted
in the baby surviving. The compensation recovered was for the bereavement

Cancer misdiagnosis and late diagnosis of cancer
Case summary 1:
Stephen Webber, head of medical negligence recovered £330,000
for the family of a Merthyr Tydfil woman whose cancer was
mis-diagnosed when the hospital failed to appropriately diagnose
her cancer from a biopsy which resulted in a delay in
treatment which eventually caused our client's death. The
money ensured financial security for her children.

Case summary 2:
Partner and medical negligence solicitor Hannah Williams, recovered
£4m for a client following a delay in acting upon a scan which
suggested a lump that he had might have been cancerous.
The lump was cancerous and, as a result of that delay, the surgery
that he ultimately needed was far more extensive than it would have
been had it been carried out months earlier and he was left
significantly disabled. Our client received a large lump sum and
annual payments for the rest of his life to meet the cost of
private 24 hour care and a new property.

Case summary 3:
Medical neglience partner, Hannah Williams,
recovered £500,000 on behalf of a client from
Newcastle following a delay in treating an infection.
Our client fractured his leg and underwent surgery to repair the
fracture. Following the surgery there were signs that he had an
infection in the wound. This was not acted upon quickly enough and
our client ultimately underwent a vast number of operations to try
and eradicate the infection, which culminated in a full hip
replacement. His mobility was permanenly affected and he could not
walk without a stick. He was unable to return to work.

Nursing care negligence and elder abuse
Case summary 1:

£4,000.00 for the London based family of an elderly man who was not
adequately supervised by nursing staff and sustained an injury when
he fell out of bed. The award was in relation to his pain and
suffering which could have been avoided with more appropriate
nursing care.

recovered £100,000 on behalf of a widower who lost his wife after
negligent nursing care in Cardiff following a routine operation
when the nurses didn't review the fluid balance and the deceased
lost too much blood and suffered a fatal heart attack.

anti-epileptic medication which resulted in
severe brain injury. Our client received a large lump sum and
