Hearing problems from pole erection units

Some current BT engineers, and former BT engineers, allege to have suffered hearing loss and tinnitus as a result of using pole erections units during their employment with BT.

Pole erection units are used to carry telegraph poles and erect telegraph poles in the ground. They incorporate an auger which drills into the ground to create a hole. When the auger makes contact with the ground, this creates a loud screeching sound.
