Hugh James advises Wales’ largest independent pharmacy group on its latest acquisition
Hugh James has advised Sheppards Pharmacy, the largest independent pharmacy group in Wales, on its acquisition of Emersons pharmacy.
This deal will add to Sheppards’ business taking them to 33 branches in total, serving a large community in South Wales.
The team, led by Partner Greg Williams, acted for Sheppards on the purchase of shares in Andoj limited the company operating Emersons Pharmacy and advised on the share purchase agreement and property purchase and related employment issues on the purchase.
John Sheppard, Financial director at Sheppards said: “We are pleased with the new branch, which further strengthens our presence in South Wales. Greg obviously has a lot of experience in this sector and he and his colleagues at Hugh James provided a seamless service to ensure that the transaction went smoothly.”
Greg commented: "We are delighted to have acted for Sheppards on its latest acquisition. It’s clear that despite some challenges for the pharmacy sector, quality providers such as Sheppards, which offers a first class service, is still going from strength to strength. There was significant interest in this pharmacy which proves that the funding cuts being faced in England aren’t reflective of the welsh market; there continues to be a very high demand for pharmacies in Wales."
