Here at Hugh James, we are all too familiar with the difficulties veterans can face when leaving service whether it be medical discharge, end of service or voluntary discharge. Whilst we identify with the difficulties, it is equally as important to recognize and celebrate veterans who have made a successful transition from military to civilian life.
Having attended the launch of the First National Veterans Awards for Wales in February 2019, it was fantastic to see dignitaries, military personnel, Assembly Members, Veteran owned company directors, councillors and a number of Veteran Community charities and organisations backing the event.
The Welsh Veterans Awards 2019 will be held on 26 June at the Village Hotel, Swansea and presented by the voice of Capital FM, Polly James. A plethora of successful individuals will be accredited for their post-military endeavours in areas such as Business, Fitness, Sport and more. Similarly, the English Veterans Awards will be held on 25 September at the Mercure Holland House, Bristol.
This is the first year the ceremony has run and organisers are dedicated to ensuring that the event is a success which builds awareness allowing the awards to be repeated in the future.
A full breakdown of the awards is as follows:
- Role Model of the Year;
- The Community Award;
- Contribution to the Welsh Fitness Industry and Society;
- Contribution to Welsh Sport;
- Young Entrepreneur of the Year;
- Employer of the Year;
- Lifetime Achievement;
- Business Leader of the Year;
- Volunteer of the Year; and
- Veterans Business Award of the Year.
It is pivotal to award those who have gone on to achieve great things after leaving the Military. Whether an individual has utilised skills acquired during service or gone on to do something completely out of their comfort zone, we feel this should be awarded.
Hugh James is exclusively supporting the ‘Business Leader of the Year’ award. This particular award will be presented to the individual who has lead an organisation, or a team within an organisation and demonstrated superb business leadership skills during the last twelve months.
If you wish to nominate an individual for an award or wish to read more about The Veteran Awards 2019, please visit www.veteransawards.co.uk; alternatively, you can email the organisers on firstname.lastname@example.org.
We look forward to attending both the Welsh and English Veterans Awards and wish the event every success.
