Witness Appeal: Did you work with Henry Malkus

Hugh James has been instructed to pursue a civil compensation claim on behalf of the family of Mrs Angela Denton nee Malkus, from Cardiff.

Angela was diagnosed with the asbestos-related condition, mesothelioma in 2019. Sadly, Angela passed away at the age of 54 in March 2020.

Angela leaves behind a loving husband and two daughters who now have questions as to how Angela was exposed to the asbestos which led to her untimely death.

During her lifetime, Angela was able to provide some detail of her father’s employment as he worked in the construction industry during her childhood in the late 1960’s and 1970’s. Angela’s father, Mr Henry Malkus (formerly known as Heinrich Wilhelm Malkus) predeceased Angela and suffered from his own respiratory difficulties during his lifetime.

Henry was of German descent, with an average height, stocky build, grey hair and with a unique moustache and beard. Henry worked for a number of companies in the construction industry in the late 1960’s and 1970’s around the Cardiff, South Wales area.

Angela’s family are now looking for any former colleagues of Henry’s that may be able to shed some light on the type of work he did when working for these various construction companies. The companies that Henry is known to have worked for include Sir Lindsay Parkinson & Co, Williams & Wall. Hinkin & Frewin Ltd, E Turner & Sons Ltd, Saunders Valve Co Ltd, Sydney Queen and Sons (Contractors) Ltd, John Mowlam and Co Ltd, R A Wheeler Ltd and more.

Lauren Bull, solicitor at Hugh James Solicitors said: “It is vital for Angela Dentons family to find someone who has first-hand knowledge of the working condition that Henry, Angela’s father experienced during the 1960’s and 1970’s. Being only a child when her father worked in the construction industry, Angela had no idea that her father was potentially working in environments that may prove fatal in later years. Despite the fact that Angela was potentially exposed to asbestos up to 50 years earlier, her family are still entitled to justice”.

The Denton family has instructed specialist asbestos lawyers at Hugh James to investigate how Angela came into contact with the hazardous material, asbestos. Former colleagues that knew Angela’s late father, Henry Malkus can get in touch with the firm by calling the asbestos team on 02920 391100.
