Autumn statement 2015 – Key announcements

27 Nov 2015 | Comment

On Wednesday (25 November,) George Osborne delivered his first Autumn Statement and Spending Review as Chancellor of a Conservative government. In our newsletter, Hugh James Independent Financial Advisers highlight the key announcements that could affect your finances, from another attack on buy-to-let landlords, a toughening up of tax on the sale of property and new State pension rates.

Given the scale of the pension and ISA headline changes announced since July’s emergency Summer Budget, there was no great expectations for radical announcements on Wednesday; however the Chancellor did set out a number of positive measures that will impact savers and small business in the years ahead; but it is clear that raising tax revenue is very much on the Chancellor’s agenda to help balance the UK’s books.
