11 Nov 2015 | Firm news

The High Court has appointed Hugh James as one of the lead solicitors in a group action for conditions associated with employment at coke works operated by British Coal (and its associated companies). These conditions include:

  • emphysema;
  • chronic bronchitis;
  • chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD);
  • chronic obstructive airways disease (COAD);
  • temporary exacerbation of asthma
  • lung cancer
  • squamous cell skin cancer

A closing date for the group register has been set by the court as 24 April 2016.

If you think that you or a deceased family member may have been affected and worked in a coke fuel plant as a coke oven worker and you wish to consider joining the group, please contact Hugh James urgently so that we can investigate your claim. We will then send you further information and assess whether you may be able to join the group and claim compensation.
