Mark Harvey, Partner and head of Hugh James’ claimant division, has been named as an APIL accredited accidents and illnesses specialist.

APIL specialist accreditation provides quality marks of competence and specialist expertise for solicitors and barristers with expertise in certain areas. Specialist accreditation shows that a lawyer has achieved a very high standard of expertise and competence and actually specialises in this area of the law.

Mark has also been appointed as an assessor of the accidents and illnesses specialist accreditation, meaning he will be able to assess applications from other lawyers both within Hugh James and elsewhere wishing to achieve this accolade.

Mark’s achievement recognises over 26 years of work in the accidents and illnesses abroad sector.  Mark began representing claimants in work and holiday related overseas accidents in 1990 and has gone on to lead and participate in a number of high profile overseas cases during his career; including Zeebrugge, P&O Lifeboat accident in Cherbourg, the Gerona air crash as well as running many successful claims for UK and European victims of both holiday and employment related incidents worldwide.

Until 2015, Mark was the author and co-presenter of the APIL “accidents abroad” continuing education course, and has run overseas accident workshops at various APIL Annual conferences, as well as at PEOPIL and AAJ.
