I studied law at the University of York and was in the first cohort to graduate from the university’s law department. The degree was innovative, being taught almost exclusively through Problem Based Learning. This has helped to shape the way I approach my work.
Following university I took some time out to work as a sports coach in Australia and travel through China, before returning to Wales.
I undertook my training in James Morgan Solicitors where I worked in a number of areas including family law, landlord and tenant/debt recovery, residential and commercial conveyancing.
I moved to Hugh James in 2018 and specialise in real estate finance transactions. I undertake property due diligence checks and help my clients secure their loans against a wide range of commercial properties.
These range from residential homes to cocktail bars, high street shops, industrial estates and almost anything in-between. I have also advised on a number of development finance loans alongside our Construction department.
What do you love most about your job?
Every property transaction is different, because every borrower, lender and property is different. You have to work closely with your client and the other side, constantly adapt the way you work and learn new things to get the deal done in order to provide the best possible service for your clients. This keeps you on your toes and helps make the work challenging and enjoyable.
What do you like to do outside work?
I am a keen sportsman and regularly take part in powerlifting competitions. In 2017 I qualified for the British Drug Free Powerlifting Association national championships. In 2018 I took a bit of time away from powerlifting to run my second marathon and recover from some lifting related back injuries. I’m hoping to make a comeback in 2019!
