Caroline joined Hugh James as a partner in 2012.

Caroline has extensive experience in acting for both public and private sector clients on all aspects of commercial property. She regularly advises property companies, housing associations and local authorities, site acquisitions and developments.

She has advised Cardiff University on its estate portfolio since 2000 and on its state of the art developments at its campuses at Heath Hospital and Maindy Road.

She acted for the Wales Millennium Centre on its £95 million project on both the original site acquisition and on the subsequent retail and art resident’s lettings.

Caroline is known for her practical estate management advice and has a wealth of knowledge in advising on landlord and tenant issues relating to retail, office and industrial premises.

Clients include Natural Resources Body for Wales, Atradius Credit Insurance NV, Paramount Office Interiors,  Clarnor Estates Limited, Carmarthen County Council, Evelyn Terrace Limited, Coastal Housing Group, Linc-Cymru Housing Association Limited, and Newydd Housing Association (1974) Limited.

The following are recent and notable deals for Caroline:

  • Advised Carmarthenshire County Council who are working in partnership with Family Housing Association on the development of a  new £13 million state of the art extra care complex at Argel, Johnstown. The accommodation will include 50 apartments and a day care centre. The scheme represents a significant part of the Council’s capital investment programme. Caroline advised on the building agreements and lease documentation. Carmarthenshire Council commented; “we certainly chose the right people to act for us!”
  • Advising three housing associations on the Welsh Housing Bond and acting in relation to their refinancing via this vehicle in excess of £15 million.
  • Advising the Crown Estate on two potential £45 million marina redevelopments.

Skiing, playing with my rather mischievous four and six year olds, watching the Irish win at rugby or if all else fails, hiding away with a good book!
