Gerallt Jones is a Partner and head of the Corporate/Commercial team at Hugh James. Since joining Hugh James in 2005, Gerallt has led the transformation of the corporate department into a leading market player, advising clients including the Welsh Government/Finance Wales, RBS and the Welsh Rugby Union.  He now leads a thriving practice that has attracted high calibre local, national and international clients and has recruited quality lawyers from the City and rival local firms.  Gerallt is a native Welsh speaker and is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong as well as England and Wales. Gerallt is also a trustee of the Cardiff Museum Development Trust.

Gerallt has been recognised in The Legal 500 UK’s Hall of Fame for Corporate and commercial: Cardiff and South Wales. The Hall of Fame highlights individuals who have received constant praise by their clients for continued excellence over the past 10 years.

  • brothers Glyn and David Jones on their sale of Cariad Cool Water (formerly Princes Gate Cool Water) to Waterlogic.
  • Walters Group, on sale of Likes Land Rover to Sinclair Group.
  • on sale of majority shareholding in Princes Gate Spring Water to Nestlé Waters. This deal was named Insider Wales Dealmakers International Deal of the Year 2018 
  • Cardiff University on the transfer of over 300 staff and 3,000 courses from the University to a newly created special health board.
  • Walters Group on the sale of Ffos Las racecourse, the first new horse racing venue in Britain for more than 80 years, to Arena Racing Company (Arc)
  • the management team of Vista Retail Support, the leading independent IT services company, on a £14m investment from leading mid-market private equity firm LDC
  • Robert Price & Sons on its acquisition of Gower Timber.
  • The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) on an agreement which sees it take ownership and operational control of the Dragons, the professional rugby union team for the Gwent Region.
  • On the £83.7m International Convention Centre Wales (ICC Wales) at Celtic Manor Resort
  • London-based Generate Sponsorship on the sale of the business to Mongoose Sports and Entertainment.
  • Simec on their investment in UK and Indian tidal lagoon programmes.
  • The founders and shareholders of corporate and financial communications business, Broker Profile on its £4 million sale to Capital Access Group Limited.
  • Pinnacle Telecom and Pinnacle Office Equipment on their management buyouts.
  • the Welsh Rugby Union on its joint venture with Compass Group UK & Ireland to create a new hospitality company providing catering, conferencing and hospitality services at the Millennium Stadium.
  • London based WSM Communications Group on the sale of two of its businesses to Porta Communications, the AIM quoted international marketing and communications business;
  • the majority shareholders of WSM Communications Group on its sale to Corbis Entertainment, a division of Corbis, a Bill Gates company;
  • the management team of Vista Retail Support on £12.3m management buyout;
  • Cardiff Aviation on various corporate matters including its multimillion pound investment by Finance Wales and a consortium of private investors;
  • Carmarthenshire-based Hydro Industries on a transatlantic joint venture with US giant T&T Salvage, one of the world’s largest salvage companies; and
  • Finance Wales on numerous transactions following Hugh James’s appointment to the Welsh Government corporate finance panel.
