Having qualified in September 2016, Nia developed her specialism in private client with an agriculturally focused law firm. Nia provided a wealth of succession planning advice including, advising on partnership agreements, farm business tenancies, Agricultural Holdings Act tenancies and addressing many issues associated with Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief. Nia also drafted a variety of bespoke wills, lasting powers of attorney and administered multi million pound agricultural estates.
Nia joined Hugh James in June 2017 and is now part of the Tax, Trusts and Estates team where she deals with all private client matters and advises in particular on agricultural succession matters.
Two particularly great elements of my job are the varied cases and the everyday interaction I have with people. The interaction with people includes not only my colleagues and professional associates outside of the office but with individual clients. Dealing with estate administration often means that you are assisting the clients through a particularly difficult time in their lives and often lifting a significant burden that it is rewarding to be able to take the weight from their shoulders.
I seize every opportunity I get to travel to a different country. With a few places visited under my belt, I’m looking forward to ticking many more off the list. In my spare time, I also enjoy running, unwinding with a book and both listening to and playing the harp and the piano.
