Simon Ellis is a Partner with Hugh James and has worked with the firm for more than 20 years, having trained and qualified here.
Simon heads up the Military Department, advising and assisting current and former military personnel with various health conditions and injuries. He specialises in claims such as hearing loss, non-freezing cold injuries, compartment syndrome and military injury cases. He is often asked to advise on more unusual claims in the military context.
Simon has been involved in high profile claims on behalf of former miners suffering with HAVS. This group action is one of the largest prices of civil litigation in British legal history, second only to the Miners/s Respiratory group action which was also dealt with by High James. He has also advised clients suffering with occupational cancer, noise induced hearing loss and asbestos disease. He contributes articles for the press relating to industrial disease issues and has given radio and television interviews about the health problems associated with asbestos in the present day. Due to his experience and reputation Simon is often asked to consider more novel types of industrial disease. He remains at the forefront of seeking justice for clients suffering with less common illnesses, caused through the work they carried out.
Simon is an APIL accredited Senior Litigator and a contributing author for Lexis Nexis.
