Colorectal surgery process

Colorectal Surgery repairs damage to the colon, rectum and anus through a variety of procedures that may have little or great long term consequence to the patient.

Colorectal Surgery is a necessary treatment option for many illnesses including:

  • Colorectal (bowel) cancer;
  • Ulcerative colitis; and
  • Crohn’s disease.

Surgical removal of the damaged area or areas can return bowel function to normal.

In other cases a colostomy bag may be required.

In some circumstances, the surgery can go wrong and this may be down to medical negligence, also known as clinical negligence.  Injury, in the form of unintentional damage to the bowel, can be caused to the patient.   This may result in a multitude of long term complications.

If you believe that you have a claim in relation to negligently performed colorectal surgery, then please contact a member of our specialist team today.
