The process of claiming compensation can be lengthy. It’s crucial to get the best possible advice and guidance. Our spinal injury solicitors are happy to answer any questions you may have, free of charge and without obligation.
To begin, you will need to appoint a specialist to represent you or your family member. Making a successful compensation claim is dependent on obtaining the necessary evidence to prove that another person is at fault, either fully or partially. We will also seek evidence highlighting the nature and extent of the injury along with the effects upon the person.
If fault can be proven, your solicitor will gather further evidence regarding the severity of the spinal cord injury and investigate likely care and medical needs. The spinal injury compensation process will be managed by a team of specialists who will deal directly with those at fault, namely the defendant. If your claim is successful the defendant will pay the agreed compensation package, which commonly includes:

Our client suffered serious injuries in a road accident when he was travelling as a front seat passenger in a van driven by the defendant.
The accident was wholly the fault of the defendant, but unfortunately our client was not wearing a seat belt. Had he done so his injuries would probably have been avoided. Liability was therefore apportioned by agreement at 76%:24% in favour of our client.
Our client is tetraplegic and requires 24 hour care with two carers for much of the time, particularly for transfers. The defendant raised issues regarding our client’s duty to obtain benefits available to him from the Local Authority to supplement his care. As a result of the Peters case such arguments were not pursued. The defendants also disputed the need for two carers on a full time basis and arguments arose in relation to the Working Time Directive.
The claim was settled at a round table meeting on terms that the defendant would pay our client periodical payments of £157,000 per annum and a lump sum of £500,000. These sums were in addition to interim payments totalling £878,000 (which had enabled to claimant to purchase a specially adapted property during the course of the claim).
Cari, no words can express how much we have appreciated all your help and hard work over the last few years. We are truly grateful. Thank you so much

My first contact with Hugh James solicitors was in early 2008. The solicitor was Mr Andrew Harding. The claim was for an injury sustained whilst working on a farm. There was continuous contact whilst dealing with the case.
I was very satisfied with the case outcome. Advice was given on investing the compensation. I found all of the Hugh James personnel extremely efficient and cooperative and have no hesitation in recommending Mr Andrew Harding and colleagues to deal with high value personal injury claims.
