Solicitor - Dispute Resolution (Landlord and Tenant)

Cardiff office Legal

Closing date: 31 December 2019

An opportunity has arisen for a NQ – 5 year PQE Solicitor to join the dispute resolution department.

The dispute resolution department at Hugh James is ranked by both Chambers and Legal 500 directories as one of the premier litigation departments in Wales and beyond. The department provides legal advice to clients across a wide spectrum of commercial, property and housing disputes.

This role arises in our housing management team who provide expert legal advice to registered social landlords and local authority clients. Whilst the role will involve many aspects of housing management including anti-social behaviour, civil injunctions and possession claims, there will be a primary focus on defending housing disrepair claims brought against housing associations and local authority landlords.

This role will include a wide range of tasks and responsibilities to include producing court documents, negotiating with other parties, advising clients and advocacy.

The successful candidate will have strong organisation skills as well as the ability to work with tight deadlines. They will be highly motivated and will be comfortable working within a team as well as on their own. They will also have excellent client care skills.

Due to the nature of this work the immediate attendance at courts throughout South Wales is often required. The successful candidate will therefore need to be flexible and ideally be able to provide their own transport in order to meet this requirement.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive, ambitious and innovative team and would suit an individual who is keen to display their technical and practical legal skills.
