Hugh James advises Welsh Fire on multi-year technical kit partnership with Castore

We are pleased to have advised Welsh Fire on a commercial partnership that will see British sportswear brand Castore become the team’s Official Technical Kit and E-commerce Partner from the 2026 season.

Castore will supply playing kits, training apparel and travel wear for both the men’s and women’s Welsh Fire teams competing in The Hundred. The multi-year partnership includes support in producing high-performance clothing engineered for elite athletes. Castore will also create merchandise for Welsh Fire fans.

As part of the deal, Castore will also run the shop on welshfire.com and provide a range of replica kits and supporter wear for fans to purchase, bringing Welsh Fire’s colours and identity to supporters across Wales and beyond.

The team at Hugh James advised Welsh Fire on the preparation of the agreements underpinning the partnership. The firm also supported Welsh Fire through the legal complexities of establishing a multi-year kit and e-commerce arrangement with Castore.

Mark Loosemore, Partner and Head of Sport, led the deal, supported by Senior Associate Matt Detheridge.

Reflecting on the deal, Mark Loosemore said:

“We are proud to support Welsh Fire as they build momentum both on and off the pitch. It has been a pleasure to work alongside the team on a partnership that represents an important step in the franchise’s commercial development.”

Our Sports law team previously advised Glamorgan County Cricket Club on its acquisition of a 50% stake in Welsh Fire, one of the eight teams competing in The Hundred, an investment that formed part of a major evolution of the competition.

Speaking on working with the team at Hugh James, Ed Rice, Commercial Director at Glamorgan County Cricket Club said:

“We are delighted to have finalised our partnership with Castore, a move that will significantly enhance the experience for our players and fans alike. We are incredibly grateful to Mark Loosemore and the team at Hugh James for their expert guidance throughout this process. Their ability to navigate the complexities of this deal was essential in getting it over the line. It’s been a pleasure working with such a dedicated legal team to secure this next chapter for Welsh Fire.”
