Military pension transfer compensation
Mis-sold military pension claims
We specialise in representing military personnel who were advised to transfer out of the Armed Forces Pension Scheme (AFPS) into alternative pension arrangements. These transfers were often presented as attractive opportunities but, in reality, have left many worse off than if they had remained in the AFPS.
Although transfers out of the AFPS were banned from 6 April 2015, many thousands of service personnel had already moved their pensions beforehand. In the majority of cases, these transfers have caused significant financial loss and may give rise to valid claims for mis-selling.
Importantly, a new pension may appear to be performing reasonably well on paper, but closer analysis often shows that individuals have lost substantial value compared with the guaranteed benefits provided under the AFPS. These guaranteed benefits are unique and cannot be replaced in other arrangements.
If you transferred your military pension and have concerns about the advice you received, you may be entitled to financial compensation. Our experienced financial mis-selling team has helped many service personnel pursue claims, and we are here to guide you through the process from start to finish.

Erich was very professional and diligent from the beginning. He was empathetic and compassionate when we found ourselves in a an extremely stressful financial situation following a legal matter which had gone horribly wrong, leaving us with a statuary demand for a significant sum. Erich gave us sound professional advice from the outset and reassured us throughout the case bringing it to a successful conclusion for us. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Erich and Hugh James to anyone who needs legal representation and would certainly use your services again if the need arises.
Client
I cannot speak highly enough about the service i have received from Hugh James. It would have been an option to pursue my own claim, but i am so glad i didn’t as i am sure that without the knowledge and experience of Neil Stockdale and his very polite and efficient team, i would almost certainly have failed to win my claim. Things were explained to me at every stage of the very long process and i received regular progress updates. When i made calls to check things, the financial mis-selling team were always happy to listen and answer my queries. I would have no hesitation in using Hugh James again in the future and would highly recommend their services.

James Coleman and the team dealt with our case for us. We are more than happy with the outcome they achieved. Any questions were answered swiftly and nothing was too much trouble. They kept us informed all the way through and it was worth every penny to give them our stress. We would not hesitate in recommending Hugh James solicitors. Thank you so much again.
