Matthew Howat

Matthew Howat is a Commercial and Dispute Resolution Solicitor. He has long represented companies in respect of commercial contract disputes and directors, shareholders and investors in resolving internal boardroom disputes. Also specialising in defending directors in director disqualification claims and liquidator claims.

Matthew Howat joined the firm on 30 April 2026 when Howat Avraam joined forces Hugh James.

Very much focused on pro-actively protecting client companies and the individuals behind the companies. Works closely with other teams to provide joined-up holistic legal protection for clients.

On the personal side of things, Matthew is a keen cyclist and tennis player. He is married and lives with his wife and 2 teenage boys in St Albans. Matthew was born in Hong Kong.
