Mr Ian Stoneley was recently diagnosed with mesothelioma, an asbestos-related cancer, in October 2025 and is seeking help from his former colleagues at ICI Winnington as to how he was exposed.
Our specialist Asbestos solicitors have been instructed by Mr Stoneley of Winsford to investigate a civil compensation claim following his diagnosis with mesothelioma.

To pursue a successful civil compensation claim, our expert solicitors need to demonstrate how Mr Stoneley came into contact with asbestos during his working life.
Mr Stoneley worked for Imperial Chemicals Ltd at the Winnington site in Northwich between approximately 1970 and 1984. He was initially employed in packing in the caustic soda plant and then moved to the Drum plant. We believe that Mr Stoneley could have been exposed to asbestos materials whilst working at this site.
Mr Stoneley is now appealing for assistance from former colleagues who might be able to shed some light on the potential use of asbestos at this site and how he may have come into contact with the harmful substance.
Anna Burns, Senior Associate in our Asbestos team comments:
“It would be a great help to speak with Mr Stoneley’s former colleagues. I would encourage anyone who has information about asbestos exposure at the Winnington site of Imperial Chemicals Ltd to come forward. Mr Stoneley and his family will be extremely grateful to anyone who is able to assist.”
