About the hosts 

Alan Collins

Alan Collins is one of the best known and most experienced solicitors in the field of child abuse litigation and has acted in many high profile cases, including the Jimmy Savile and Haut de la Garenne abuse scandals.  Alan has represented interested parties before public inquiries including the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry, and IICSA (Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse). 

Internationally, Alan works in Australia, South East Asia, Uganda, Kenya, and California representing clients in high profile sexual abuse cases. Alan also spoke at the Third Regional Workshop on Justice for Children in East Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok hosted by Unicef and HCCH (Hague Conference on Private International Law).


Sam Barker

Sam Barker started his career as a solicitor in Melbourne, Australia a large Australian law firm. Sam's practice included a mix of high value personal injury and insurance matters. He developed a speciality in claims arising out of intentional torts (physical and sexual assault), organisational vicarious liability for criminal acts of employees and psychiatric injuries. When Sam moves to London in late 2017 he brought this experience with him when he joined Hugh James' esteemed Specialist Personal Injury and Abuse team as an Australian Qualified Solicitor. In 2019, Sam passed his transfer exams and requalified as a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales.
