Hugh James extends partnership with Long Course Weekend Wales into 2026

We are pleased to announce that Long Course Weekend Wales will once again be powered by Hugh James in 2026, extending our partnership with one of Wales’ flagship sporting events.

As title partner for the full weekend of multi-sport racing, we are delighted to support an event that celebrates wellbeing and community, values that strongly align with us. Sports enthusiasts from across the country will once again look forward to the event taking place from 26 to 28 June in Pembrokeshire.

Matthew Evans, CEO of Long Course Weekend, said:

“What Hugh James understands is that this is about more than an event. It’s about people, pride, and place. Their commitment goes beyond sponsorship, it reaches into our schools, our communities, and the future of our young people. That’s the kind of partnership that leaves a legacy long after the finish line is crossed”

Our partnership supports the LCW Community Legacy Programme, as well as colleagues from across the firm who take part in the event each year.

The Legacy Programme has provided vital support to local sporting, community and educational groups in recent years. The initiative helps encourage more young people to get involved in sport and physical activity.

Speaking about the partnership, Joe Purcell, CCO, said:

“For us it is one of our most significant social value partnerships. We are pleased to support an initiative that makes a genuine difference for children across Pembrokeshire, particularly by helping them learn to swim, which is an essential life skill in a coastal community.”

The programme has already reached more than 1,000 children across 55 schools in Pembrokeshire by providing additional swimming coaches for lessons, supporting sports days and supplying bikes.

The Legacy Programme has provided vital support to local sporting, community and educational groups in recent years. The initiative helps encourage more young people to get involved in sport and physical activity, including through its learn-to-swim provision.

Recent outcomes from the programme highlight its impact. In Pembrokeshire, 62% of pupils in Years 3–6 have achieved the national swimming standard, 22% above the national average, while 80% of Year 6 pupils meet the National Curriculum requirement. These results reflect the positive contribution the programme is making to children’s confidence and safety in the water.

He continued:

“Looking ahead to this year’s event, we are excited for what promises to be another fantastic Long Course Weekend. It is also encouraging to see the Legacy Programme expanding into open water training, which will help improve safety and build confidence in the water.”

We look forward to another fantastic Long Course Weekend Wales and to continuing our support for the event and the communities it benefits.
