Corporate team advises Broker Profile shareholders on £4m sale to Capital Access

Our corporate and banking division has advised the founders and shareholders of corporate and financial communications business, Broker Profile on its £4 million sale to Capital Access Group Limited.

The transaction paved the way for AIM-listed international marketing and communications agency, Porta Communications Plc, to take a 29.5 per cent holding in Capital Access, adding investor relations and an increased financial PR capability to its broad service offering.

The Hugh James team was led by partner and head of corporate and banking, Gerallt Jones, with support from Bethan Penrhyn-Jones.

Gerallt Jones said:

“We are gaining an increasing amount of work in the City as our London office continues to go from strength to strength. This latest deal, again involving a listed company, further enhances our considerable expertise in the creative industries sector.”

For the year ending 31 December 2014, Broker Profile reported revenue of £2.7m and pre-tax profits of £0.8m from its corporate communications, investor access and equity research service offering.

Set up in 1997 by Jonathan Gillen, Broker Profile has more than 70 clients ranging from FTSE100 to AIM. All employees will remain with Capital Access following the acquisition, with the exception of Mr Gillen who takes on a consultancy role.

In a statement to the London Stock Exchange, Mr Gillen said:

“I have enjoyed the challenges of building the business up but now is the right time to hand over the reins to a new team. I wish them luck in taking the business forward and it is encouraging that the company is in good hands with an experienced team.”
