Kate Coles and Charlotte Fletcher from the Court of Protection Unit at Hugh James braved the elements on 17 March 2018 as part of a team of 30 bucket collectors. They were at the Wales vs. France 6 Nations rugby match at the Principality Stadium raising money as part of the Cardiff and Vale Health Charity before the match.
The funds were being collected by Cardiff and Vale Health Charity volunteers on behalf of two charities, The Prop Appeal and Rookwood Spur, both based at Rookwood Hospital in Llandaff.
The Prop Appeal supports brain injury rehabilitation patients at Rookwood Hospital. Rookwood Spur promotes and improves the quality of life and opportunities for patients of the Spinal Injuries Unit at Rookwood Hospital.
The ‘Super Saturday’ French and Welsh rugby fans attending the match at the stadium helped raised an impressive total of £1,152. The money raised will be shared equally between the two charities to help fund the important work that they carry out.
Kate Coles of Hugh James, and also a trustee and founding member of Rookwood Spur said:
“it was a particularly cold day but there was a great atmosphere leading up to the game. It is fantastic to help raise such a large amount of money for two such important charities which really help to enhance the lives of patients at Rookwood Hospital who often have to stay at the hospital for a number of weeks or months before discharge due to the severity of their injuries.”
The Hugh James Neurolaw team provides specialist legal advice to individuals who have suffered catastrophic injury such as brain and spinal cord injuries. The multidisciplinary Court of Protection Unit stands alongside the Neurolaw team and supports claimants who lack capacity to manage their property and financial affairs following a brain injury. For more information about these services please ring the Neurolaw Team on 029 2039 1031.
The Neurolaw team is a proud supporter of Rookwood Spur. Many members of the team will be marshaling or taking part in the charity’s “Wheel 4 Rookwood Spur 2018” on 1 July 2018 in Cardiff Bay. More information regarding this event can be found here.
