Witness Appeal: Did you work with Dennis Baxter at Apex Insulation or London Regional Transport?

The family of Mr Dennis Albert Baxter, who sadly died from mesothelioma earlier this year, is appealing for information from anyone who worked for Apex Insulation Company Limited and the London Transport Executive (later London Regional Transport).

Our specialist asbestos claims team has been instructed to pursue a civil compensation claim on behalf of Mr Baxter’s family.

Mr Baxter was exposed to asbestos while working in London for the following employers:

  • Apex Insulation Company Limited – 1965–1967, lagger: regularly mixing and applying asbestos lagging to pipework.
  • London Transport Executive – 1978–1994, rail network maintenance.

We are looking to hear from former employees, supervisors, or contractors of these organisations who can confirm working conditions at the time, including the use of asbestos-containing materials, typical tasks, training or warnings, protective equipment, and how exposure arose. We are especially keen to speak with anyone who worked with Mr Baxter or alongside lagging/maintenance teams during the periods above.

Mr Baxter also worked for other lagging and construction companies in London during the 1960s–1970s, including:

  • Cape Insulation & Asbestos Products Ltd
  • Kitsons
  • London Covering Co Ltd
  • Wrights Insulations Ltd
  • Insulations (Plant & Structural) Ltd
  • Arthur H Wilton Limited
  • Newalls Insulations & Chemical Co Ltd
  • Falcon Insulations Limited
  • The Darlington Insulation Company Limited

We would also welcome contact from former colleagues from any of the companies listed.

Emma James, Associate and asbestos claims solicitor, said:

“We already know that Mr Baxter was exposed to asbestos during his work. We are now appealing for anyone who worked with him, or in similar roles at Apex Insulation Company Limited or the London Transport Executive / London Regional Transport, to come forward and share their memories of working practices at the time. First-hand accounts of how asbestos materials were handled during these times, or what safety measures were in place, will greatly assist with our investigations into the family’s claim.”
