Mr John Yates, who worked at Leyland Vehicles Ltd / Leyland DAF and Albion Automotive Ltd, is appealing for information from individuals who worked with him between 1987 and 2005.
Our Specialist Asbestos Solicitors have been instructed by Mr Yates to pursue a civil compensation claim following his diagnosis with the asbestos-related disease, mesothelioma, in April 2026.

Mr Yates is appealing for help from his former colleagues, or from anyone who worked Leyland Vehicles Ltd / Leyland DAF and Albion Automotive Ltd during the relevant periods, who may be able to shed some light on the potential use of asbestos at this site and how he may have come into contact with the harmful substance.
Mesothelioma is an asbestos-related cancer, the only known cause of which is previous exposure to asbestos.
Mr Yates was employed by Leyland Vehicles Ltd / Leyland DAF from approximately 1987 to 1993 as a Fitter on the engine assembly track. Following the closure of Leyland DAF, the Leyland factory site was acquired by Albion Automotive Ltd. and Mr Yates continued working at the same site from approximately 1994 to 2005, where he worked on engine component production and press machines.
