Hugh James announced as first Gold Sponsor for the Andy Cox Challenge 2022

We’re proud to be announced as the first Gold Sponsor of a high-profile national roads policing event – the Andy Cox Challenge 2022.

More than half of UK police forces have already confirmed their involvement in the event, which is taking place between 16-22 May, in aid of RoadPeace – the national charity supporting road crash victims.

It will see police officers and staff join forces to run, cycle, walk or travel by any other means across their force area, in potentially the biggest event of its kind in the UK.

The forces will form local fundraising teams which will help to reach the overall event fundraising target of £500,000.

The event will be spearheaded by Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Cox, Head of Crime at Lincolnshire Police, who became well-known during the first UK lockdown after single-handedly launching a campaign to tackle speeding.

Commenting on our sponsoring of the event, Andy Cox said today:

“This challenge is about highlighting awareness of the devastation road deaths and injuries cause. It’s also about raising vital funds for RoadPeace to help support those who have had their lives shattered.

With companies like Hugh James signing up for gold sponsorship, they are making an essential stand against road danger. It’s a huge step towards our target that will make a difference to many lives.”

Ciaran McCabe, Partner in the Hugh James Neurolaw team added:

”We’re delighted and honoured to be the first Gold Sponsor of the 2022 Andy Cox Challenge. We look forward to working with Andy and Police Forces across England & Wales in the next few months to help raise £500,000 for RoadPeace. We are great supporters of RoadPeace and members of their national legal panel. We act for severely injured clients throughout England & Wales and the families of those who have sadly suffered fatalities. Many of our clients have been involved in road traffic collisions and financially supporting the important work of Roadpeace is critical to better road safety in the UK.”

Hugh James is the sole Welsh based law firm on the RoadPeace legal panel. We have extensive experience in handling compensation claims for people who have suffered catastrophic injuries. Many of these injuries were sustained in road collisions.

Our team of specialist solicitors recently won the prestigious award of Catastrophic Injury Team of the Year at the Claims Media Personal Injury Awards 2021 in recognition of their expertise and track record.
