Netflix Documentary – Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey


Dani and Kathleen discuss the patterns seen in these types of claims and how difficult it is to leave these religious closed communities. They also discuss the main themes that come out of the documentary which include; how strict the clothing, hair and behaviour is with complete lack of outside knowledge, fear of rejection from family, no reading materials, young women having numbers of children, also the young men removed from the cult as concerns the elders would not have enough wives (the more wives the better) banning relationships which were not approved and not teaching on sex or where babies came from.

An untold story of Warren Jeffs Texas based religious closed community, the expose looked a bigamy, abuse and paedophilia.

Leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He had been head of the church since 2002 and imprisoned in 2011. The documentary focused on the accounts of those who had left the cult and the impact on their lives. Warren had 78 wives in which 24 of these were under 17. One of the people featured in the documentary was married to Warren at 14.
