What are you looking for?

SSB Law professional negligence claims

Were you represented by SSB Law in relation to a cavity wall insulation claim on a ‘no win no fee’ and are now being pursued for legal court costs or other charges? If so, we are here to help.

Hugh James currently acts for clients bringing claims for professional negligence seeking to recover losses incurred due to the handling of their cavity wall insulation claims by SSB Law. The average legal costs our clients face is in the region of £20,000.

SSB Law was placed into administration in January 2024 owing six litigation funders in excess of £200M but it has professional indemnity insurance cover in place to meet claims.

SSB Law handled many thousands of claims relating to cavity wall insultation before running into difficulty. The clients that we represent are being pursued for costs payable to the other side on cases that were unsuccessful despite their cases being handled on a ‘no win no fee’. The costs range from £10,000 to £50,000.

How can we help consumers?

Our team supports individuals who were let down by SSB Law and are now unsure about their rights or next steps. We’ll review your paperwork, explain clearly whether you may have a professional negligence claim, and guide you through the entire process. If your case was abandoned, mishandled, or simply left in limbo, we can step in quickly to assess what went wrong and what compensation you may be entitled to. We’ll also deal with creditors, insurers, or any ongoing pressures while we investigate your case, ensuring you’re supported throughout.

How can we help funders & insurers?

We work closely with litigation funders and insurers to provide reliable early-stage assessments, structured reporting, and efficient progression of high-volume claims arising from SSB Law’s collapse. Our team can review cases at scale, identify viable matters quickly, and deliver clear recommendations on prospects and quantum. We’re experienced in working within agreed SLAs, ensuring transparency, consistency, and dependable case management from start to finish.

Evidence we’ll ask for

To help us assess your claim efficiently, it’s useful (but not essential) to provide any of the following documents you may have:

  • Retainer or funding agreements with SSB Law
  • Correspondence explaining their advice or the outcome of your case
  • Any expert reports, valuations or technical evidence previously obtained
  • Copies of claim forms, schedules of loss, or settlement communications
  • Emails or notes showing delays, errors, or missed deadlines
  • Financial records showing the losses you have suffered

If you do not have all of this paperwork, don’t worry, we can usually request copies on your behalf.
