Hugh James advises Robert Price on acquisition of Philip Jones Timber Products

We recently advised Robert Price Builders’ Merchants on its acquisition of the business and assets of Philip Jones Timber Products, strengthening the merchant’s presence across South Wales.

The acquisition sees Robert Price add the Ebbw Vale-based timber supplier to its growing portfolio of businesses, further expanding its footprint across the region and reinforcing its commitment to serving customers across South Wales and Herefordshire.

Founded in 2003, Philip Jones Timber Products has built a strong reputation as a supplier of quality timber and bespoke timber products in South Wales. The business will continue operating from its sawmill and yard in Rassau, Ebbw Vale, ensuring continuity for customers and suppliers.

Gerallt Jones and Gemma Davies advised Robert Price, supported by Tomas Stephens (Corporate), Peter Hurn (Property) Louise Price and Elinor Corbett-Jones (Employment).

Speaking on the acquisition, Gemma said:

“We were pleased to advise Robert Price on another acquisition which reflects its continued ambition to expand its business and further strengthen its market position, and we look forward to supporting its ongoing success.”

Robert Price currently operates 32 sites across South Wales and Herefordshire, including 21 traditional merchant yards alongside a range of specialist branches. These include roofing centres, timber specialists, kitchen and bathroom showrooms, a Sustainable Energy Centre, an insulation division, and an agricultural supplies branch. The Group operates under the Robert Price, Tudors, and Gower Timber brands.

William Godfrey, Managing Director of Robert Price, said:

We are grateful to the team at Hugh James for their expert advice and support throughout the transaction.
